Getting My Summer Reading On with Capsule Books
I've always been an avid reader; one particularly dreary summer I remember reading over a hundred books. And I love tangible books; I'm not a fan of staring at another screen via a kindle to read; I love cracking a spine, getting sand in pages, and the smell of a freshly bound book.
In 2016 I managed to read a fair amount of books, making my GoodReads reading challenge of 52 books. 2017, with all the travel and wedding planning, was a stark contrast at... 12 books. After that embarrassment I've set out to make 2018 a bit better and, with the help of Capsule Books, I'm already nearing 20 books for the year!
Capsule Books is the subscription service for hip bookworms. Each seasonal box is curated on a feeling; for summer you had the option to choose from Beyonce's Lemonade, Madeon's Adventure, and Lorde's Melodrama albums. I chose (obviously) Lemonade, which came with books focusing on women and more specifically women of color. There were 2 nonfiction anthologies of essays and one work of fiction; I read all three books and can say they were quite impactful! They make you think, they make you feel.
