Hi.

They Say Time Changes Things

They Say Time Changes Things

...but sometimes you have to change them yourself.

I don't mean to politicize a fashion blog, or fashion bloggify politics, but it's something I feel strongly about, the current state of affairs. Per my few posts last year discussing the importance of immigration, now here we are, over a year later, and we are still fighting. And the numbers of those fighting are growing. The youth of the world always leading the charge on the matters of importance. In the early 1900s we women took to the streets to fight for equality, to fight for HUMAN rights. But we didn't stop there; we had to KEEP fighting, into the 1940s. And then we had to march again, for our brothers and sisters born with more melanin, and again to fight against wars and innocent killings of the 1970s (and school shootings - way back then). FINALLY, there was some peace after the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment). But it's 2018 and things are getting out of hand again. I've personally took to the streets to march for things that seem obvious; for women to have a voice in their own healthcare; for immigrants who have fled war and savagery to continue a life they are earning; for racist killings that should long be dead concepts themselves; for science, proven studied science, to be acknowledged by our leaders instead of refuted, and for the obvious reasoning that you can't change the constitution but maybe some rules are outdated and maybe some people shouldn't be allowed to get weapons of warfare and kill easier than it is to buy drugs and alcohol and kill yourself.

I have to see, it is heartbreaking that we see so much anger hatred and tragedy in our world today, but it is absolutely heartwarming to see and be involved with these modern  changes. WE are the change we are going to see in the world. These 17 year olds from Florida are going to be the driving force to our most modern future yet.

This 70s inspired look, while still a fashion look, makes me feel powerful. Like I am living in the day and age of fighting for peace and equality, because I am. And if we came out of the 70s alive and better than before, then we can make it through this and come out on top. WE GOT THIS GUYS.
