Stay: DC's Mason & Rook
If you’re not new here then you know I have a soft spot for boutique hotels. Kimpton has been my favorite as of late; most major cities have a few hotels that, though they are part of a larger chain, maintain the boutique feel and aesthetic, creating a unique experience at any of their hotels. There are things, though, you can always expect at a Kimpton brand hotel. The softest bedding, dog friendly amenities, and more often than not a great hotel bar or restaurant.
My stay in DC at the Mason & Rook was exactly that, plus some unique touches. Mason & Rook is the minimalist masculine humidor of a fine Cuban cigar when it comes to a boutique hotel. Muted tones, fun artwork, midcentury accents, moody interiors. The lobby is full of books, magazines, and soft leather and clothe chairs and couches, giving way to a calm atmosphere that takes you away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Logan Circle.
