Experience: Hong Kong's Hotel Icon
Not many award-winning hotels can say they are fully staffed, designed, and run by students. In fact, I'm not sure any other hotel in the world can say that besides Hotel Icon.
This hotel, in the heart of downtown Hong Kong, is fully owned and operated by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, but the level of class and experience ensure you are being helped by the upper echelon of the hospitality pros. We arrived fairly late, in just off a 16 hour flight form Chicago, and were greeted with champagne and dinner at their rooftop restaurant. After filling our stomachs we settled into our suite for the night and, thanks to jetlag, I settled into the tub with the TV while Z took in the view.
After a solid night of relaxation and quality sleep we were ready to explore all that Hong Kong had to offer, starting with breakfast beneath the hotel's iconic vertical garden. It nostalgically reminded me of the gorgeous vertical garden we lunched beside in Mexico City An english breakfast later, we decided to walk off our breakfast at the museums, before heading back to the hotel for the rooftop pool because why the hell not. It was an all around dreamy stay and made our few short days in Hong Kong and absolutely magical experience.
