How to Have the Most EXTRA NYE Ensemble
Alright y’all, it’s my favorite time of year. Birthdays, gift giving holidays, chances to reflect upon the past year, and the chance to go ALL OUT for some glam looks in the name of “festive”. Here, I share my top tips to have the most extra NYE and holiday season possible!
Step 1: Fascinating Freckles
I have been following the fabulous Mr. Kate ever since the beginning days of blogging/vlogging. This Girl Boss is a power house of style, changing peoples lives and decor on a budget, designing jewelry, art prints, and more. Her “BeautyMarks” collection is what I’ve used here to give myself some glam freckles, just in time for my holiday parties. I love the subtlety of these, how they look natural from afar, but once you get close (or someone special gets close ;) ) can you see them shimmer in the light.
Step 2: Add some Length with Dangly Earrings
I can’t believe I went nearly 8 years of my life without cute earrings (thanks to the early oughts trend of stretched ears and me being #edgy). These days I love to play with fabulous ear pieces, like these from H&M. Similar styles perfect for your holiday parties include: these lengthy tassels, these crystal beauts that are like ear-chandliers, and these affordable faves.
Step 3: Show Some Skin
Halloween certainly isn’t the only holiday in which you can dress a little extra scantily. For NYE I love a plunging neckline, something that, when you throw on a scarf, still means you’re mostly covered from the harsh reality of winter. My exact jumpsuit is thrifted from my DC fave, Current Boutique, but there’s totally similar options. Like this very similar to mine version from BCBG, this under $20 one with a cute choker collar, and this very extra SEQUIN jumpsuit.
Step 4: Play with Textures
One of my favorite parts about dressing for the holiday season is all of the texture. You’ve got your tartans and plaids, your cozy knits, your lush velvets, soft silks, and flowing chiffons. For this look, I paired my chiffon (or rather, polyester that looks like chiffon) jumpsuit with some luxe velvet booties and a gold chain belt, which, if you haven’t noticed is super on trend right now. My belt is vintage Versace, but my booties are by the much more attainable Public Desire.
And that’s it! What tips and tricks do you use to play up the glam for the holiday season?
