Homesickness

It’s been a long two and a half months away from my New York City; a long tumultuous few months. But pending review from my primary doctor tomorrow, I should be back staring at the skyline from the Brooklyn coast the beginning of August! For now, a few visits and this tee shirt shall suffice.

New Shoes

Back in May, while out shopping with my friend Sarah, I stopped by cheap-o shop Rainbow. I fell in love.

Gold glittering heels with red, yellow, and blue straps…70′s, glam, and perfection.

I thought about them. for months. I mean, this was back in MAY.

Until, one hungover morning adventure with my new roommate we ventured into Rainbow and GUESS WHAT!?  THOSE SHOES WERE ON SALE. for TEN DOLLARS.

Cheap, glam and amazing. They’re now mine. Oh, heavenly. Say what you want, trash talk them, but I LOVE THEM. I’ve been wearing them around the house anytime I’m home since I got them. omg.

My Birthday!

20111217-111455.jpg

Thursday was My Birthday!! 22 years old, baby! And unlike many young 20-something’s I didn’t want to have a party at a club or bar, or go out and do shots or drink. What I wanted for my birthday was to go to Connecticut’s Mystic Aquarium.

Since it was my birthday I received free admission, and I had been looking forward to feeding the sting rays and doing a one on one encounter with the penguins. Like, I was telling everyone at work about how ecstatic I was.
Sadly, the aquarium only does those things in the summer months. While I did get to pet the sting rays and smaller sharks, everything else was a no go.

Still, I had an amazing time!

I had some fun in the gift shop as well, they had some “kanye shades”. I ended up getting this amazing jellyfish tee shirt as well!

After that fun afternoon of sea creatures, I surprised my parents back home! They took me out to dinner at a shockingly fancy, delicious, and well priced Italian restaurant in their town of Seekonk, MA called ‘Chardonnay’. The ambiance was great, with faux candles to set a calm mood.

With a bottle of wine and birthday cards we feasted on a Mediterranean pizza piled with spinach, olives, feta and onions; all my favorites!
I then finished off my birthday night with dessert and drinks with some local friends at UNOs.

Oh sweet, delicious success of becoming 22!

TGIM

As previously stated, I went out on a fun-bender for the weekend. But with Monday Trivia night and texts from friends demanding we come out to the LES, my roommate and I caved and went into Manhattan for another night of bar hopping. The night ended up similar to Katy Perry’s Last Friday Night song…Except not in Hollywood (sadly, I miss that place!)

Another fun night in my favorite Aldo wedges. Also wearing an American Apparel dress, Stein and Blye cuff, Target bangle. My roommate (the one with the Mormon glove) is weaaring an adorable elephant printed dress by the brand Porridge.

I swear guys, I’ll try to stop the partying…

The Met

Totalllllly late. But a few weeks ago I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with a few friends to see the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty Exhibit and peruse the museum. Strangely enough, having lived in NYC about four years now this was my first museum…EVER.

Boring little outfit post about this look I wore to work and then to the Vintage Twin Trunk Show and then shopping and then to a bar. Really, this is an all purpose look that works for so many places to go!

Please pay no mind to my unpainted nails…They’ve since been painted.

Keeping it Real

YAY! My first outfit post from my Maine vacation!

If you haven’t noticed, I don’t edit my photos. I rarely use photoshop outside of school projects, so what you see is what you get when it comes to my blog. In these images, I’m keeping it even more real. Since being on vacation I’ve applied my make up maybe ONCE. There’s not much need when all you go is down to the ocean every morning, then shower off the sand to cuddle and watch TV/movies.

Bedford Ave

Since my boyfriend is an out-of-towner I decided to bring him to the heart of my Williamsburg neighborhood, Bedford Ave. We started by perusing some shops and restaurants before sitting down to eat at Black Bird, a place which does NOT have a quality Foursquare presence, but proved itself in our books.

The menu reeked of self deprecating and realist humor, which created a more laid back ambiance amidst the uptight gorgeous crowd that was already eating and drinking their mimosas. Our drinks came within a matter of minutes and our food within 10-15. My Greek salad had refreshingly melt-in-your-mouth feta (contrary to the frozen kind I get at PAX on my usual lunch breaks) and Cody raved about his BlackBird signature cheeseburger. We also ordered the cheese fries, which were great and had a hint of spice to perfect the batch.

After relishing in our meals and drinks we headed north to Beacon’s Closet, for some selfishness (hey, I brought him to the Men’s section first!) but was too full of bladder crushing liquor to focus on shopping.

After a much needed bathroom break we decided to head south in the hopes of crossing the Brooklyn Bridge; sadly I forgot that is much too far from walking distance.

Busy Busy!

Hello followers and readers!

I’ve been a busy lady as of late, with sooo many things in the works for this site and my personal life (And dramatics and tragedies as well, sadly). I recently attended an event for Mintbox, which I’ll be sharing more with you soon, but here are a few candid shots from the event, which also included sponsor’s from Arrojo Salon and NARS beauty products!

Pictures via the NY Fashion Bloggers Meetup

I personally didn’t take many pictures, or even quality outfit pictures due to being a good networker and mingler. And, ofcourse, NYC has been morbidly hot so I had sweated off all my make up.

Again, you’ll be hearing more about my Mintbox. In other news, I still take iPhone photos of my daily outfits and share on my Tumblr, here are a few from this week!
